As I sit down to pen my thoughts on the year that has passed, I am filled with a sense of accomplishment and profound introspection. The year 2023 has been a remarkable journey, marked by challenges, learning, and personal growth.
At the outset, the most notable aspect of this year was my ability to manage a hectic schedule while completing a rigorous training program. This endeavor was not just a test of my professional skills but also a testament to my resilience and dedication. It's a part of my journey I look forward to sharing more about.
This year was also a time of significant personal development. I found myself growing stronger - morally, mentally, and emotionally - a contrast I observed with my peers. I became more conscious of the importance of health and the discipline required to maintain it. This awareness was crucial in navigating the year's demands.
A poignant moment that stayed with me was a thought shared by many people - the feeling of being just another person, seemingly helpless in contributing to our country and society. This sentiment deeply resonated with me, highlighting the blessings of living in this era and the potential we hold to make a difference.
Amidst this, I experienced changes in my social life. I gradually drifted from my school friends, particularly when I chose not to join a planned trip to Goa. However, my office colleagues filled this gap, providing memorable moments and strong support.
A lighter, yet significant part of my year was the bond I formed with a little bird named Chinnu. Though our time together was brief, it left a lasting impact on my heart, reminding me of the beauty and transience of life.
Academically, I embarked on a challenging but fulfilling journey at the prestigious Indian Institute of Management. The advanced program in fintech and financial blockchain was intense, combining my job with evening classes. The experience was enriching, filled with learning, competition, and camaraderie with seasoned professionals like Naveen, Ravi, Vishwa, Tanya, and others. This experience wasn't just about academic growth; it was about building connections and understanding diverse perspectives.
This year also marked a shift in my hobbies and interests. I withdrew from sports like football and cricket, finding solace and joy in spending time with my dog friends. These moments of peace and happiness were crucial in balancing the demands of my professional life.
One of the highlights of the year was my visit to the India International Trade Fair with my parents. It was a beautiful experience, reminding me of the richness of our culture and heritage.
Professionally, I attended a training on cross-border transactions, which was enlightening and added to my skill set. However, this year was also a time of introspection about my career path. I am now contemplating a shift, seeking a role where I can make a more significant impact and find greater fulfillment.
Equally impactful was the Cricket World Cup of 2023, held in India. The nation was united in its support for the Indian cricket team, who played spectacularly throughout the tournament. Their journey to the finals was a source of immense joy and pride. However, the loss to Australia in the final was a deeply emotional moment for the cricketing community. It was a poignant reminder of the 2003 World Cup, with the defeat feeling all the more acute due to the high expectations and exceptional talent of our team.
Later in the year, I received a letter from the HRM section, indicating a new direction in my career. I was required to visit the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in relation to a case involving foreign exchange transactions. This shift brought me under the mentorship of DSP Amit Kumar Shahi, a seasoned CBI veteran with a rich international experience, including work at the United Nations. Working with the CBI was a profound learning experience, enhancing my understanding of foreign exchange transactions and investigative procedures.
To maintain balance amid these changes, I started attending the gym regularly. This routine has been instrumental in managing stress and maintaining health, a crucial aspect of coping with day-to-day challenges.
As the year comes to a close, I reflect on the lessons learned, from IIM to CBI, and the unexpected turns that have shaped my journey. Moving forward, I am eager to continue this path of growth, hoping to venture out on a fresh, stronger, and more experienced trajectory. The upcoming year holds the promise of travel and new opportunities, and I am ready to embrace them with the same vigor and determination that has defined my journey so far.
